Fixing a Blackberry Trackball
Tue, 07/07/2009 - 10:32am | by EmyrAfter owning my Blackberry Curve for 6 months, I found that I could no longer scroll up, which was quite an inconvenience. The usual vigorous scrolling would not release it, so I decided to throw caution to the wind and dismantle it.
Luckily, there is no need to completely dismantle the Curve 8300 or Pearl models to access the trackball, since they are held in by a simple chromed plastic ring.
Here's a guide on how to dismantle the BrackBerry trackball unit and clean the rollers.
I actually kept my phone turned on whilst doing this, since using the red "power button" only puts it in a standby mode, and it takes almost 5 minutes to fully start up from a "battery out" state.
